Air Intake/Exhaust

I've been having a hard time finding the best performing air intake for my '00 3.4L Taco. I want it to give me the best HP increase as well as give my Taco a throatier sound. I'm also looking for a good exhaust for the tuck as well. Any recommendations on what and where to buy would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I don't know about the intake you need but your handle says exhaust.

I would get an Amsoil air filter, do the deckplate mod, and get either a Borla exhaust or Magnaflow(check on sizes as there are several lenghts being used by guys here)

Thanks a lot guys. I think I'm going to try the deckplate/ISR mod. I'll search the site for what air filter to get as well as what exhaust system to get as well. Thanks for all the feedback!

Oh and uboatcmndr... I didn't understand your reply... sorry.

I got a cheep cone filter off ebay and I can hounestly say it is just as good as the $200 K&N fitpack for about 1/5 the money. I also have the Magnaflow and have been happy with it. Great sound, even with my wiener 2.4L engine.

only problem is that if your area has emission testing is the ebay cheapo doesnt have a exemption order numberand is not legal for use on a pollution controlled vehicle

Hey there, I have a '00, 3.4 4Runner I went with the Dyno Max super Turbo, (2 1/4",the case is 20" long) out of Jegs for about $45, and just replaced my stock muffler and left the pipe alone. try the K&N drop-in filter and drill 5/32" holes in the front of your stock air box, not a whole bunch maybe 20 or so in whatever pattern but just in the front. this will give you a low growl as you push the pedal and the muffler will give you a nice low rumble, can't even hear it a hiway speed. Unless of course you are looking for loud. just an opinion, it worked for me and wasn't aloto bucks!! good luck, EDH

Why drill holes when you can perform a perfectly reversible mod for about $12? I pity the fool that tries a stream crossing with a drilled airbox.

I would highly advise an Amsoil filter if off-roading is in the future.

As mentioned, deckplate mod, ISR mod, O-gasket mod, saw off the old muffler, weld in a new one. Easy as that.
