Air Conditioning Fan Thought
I just installed A/C in my 4runner which already had a Taurus fan and a fan controller that will activate the fan when the compressor is on.
I understand that the fan needs to be on when the A/C is on for slower driving, but would there be any downside to switching the fan off on the highway? The fan would still come on if the engine got to hot.

Nope, no drawbacks. I did exactly this to mine. I rigged a switch up to my clutch activation wire. I flip my fan switch off while not sitting in traffic. AC is cold as ever.
And, since the thermoswitch is still in place, you always have that monitoring the coolant temp. So you never run the risk of overheating. If I can do this in the desert, anybody can do it.

Great. Thanks for the feedback. I'll hook up the switch today.
I just hated the thought of the fan running when not needed.
btw We have hybrid vehicles. I have a light connected to the fan to show when it runs. When going past 30 mph the light glows and gets brighter the faster I get. I just know it's charging my battery.
