Question Aftermarket or stock? Exhaust recommendations needed…

I am going to have to replace the exhaust on my 02 D cab before the next inspection. I don’t want to have to do it again so I’d like to go stainless, the problem is all I can find are aftermarket “performance” cat back systems in full stainless. I had a Borla catback on my 88 and it was always just a little too loud and “droney” for me. Any suggestions? Anyone ever use Walker exhausts? I did find they sell one with a lifetime warranty that, at least has a stainless muffler. I could always buy an OEM Toyota setup too I guess, considering the stock on has lasted all these years! I was going to buy a Gibson till I watched a few YouTube videos of them, I do not want or need a raspy loud exhaust system, that’s what my Triumph 955 triple is for

My truck threw a check engine light today, Autozone read the code, said its the cat so Im going to be replacing some exhaust parts sooner than later!

Thanks! Matt

Red face

Get your local pipe bender to custom make a whole system you can either go flanged converters or slip on or even weld on.

Get the weld on bungs for the sensors

My new Steel Walker system lasted less then 2 years till the muffler and tail pipe needed to be replaced.

This. Custom is the way to go.

I would also go custom but if they use a crush bender step up a pipe size (2.5" at least). Then just pick out the muffler you want.

How do people feel about the quality and the sound of JBA exhaust? Don't really know any shops around here and I don't trust Juan's muffler on every corner here in CO.

Update on an old thread, I ended up getting the Bosal stock replacement.... 1 piece, its a little louder than the stock one was. Build quality is OK, the pipe bends and welds are no where near the factory part but it was under $150 shipped and has held up for the last 2 years with no issues!
