Aftermarket carbs and emissions...

Ok..... I am so sick of un-****ing up the vacuum hoses and tracking down leaks on my truck, it's making me sick. I'm very strongly considering getting a new carb. My engine is completely stock, has had a rebuild about 40K miles ago (but just blew head gasket). I can't decide if I want a weber 32/36 or 38 carb. There's only about a $50 difference between the kits at LCEngineering.com. Would passing emissions be a problem with either of these carbs? Would a 38 be overkill for my stock motor? Do I have to purchase any adapters to make them bolt to my intake manifold? I've never changed a carb before, so don't know what to expect (i have an experienced friend to help me). I just wanna try to keep the number of suprises to a minimum. Should my stock air cleaner fit a weber carb? Would the Hot Air Intake still function (the thing that draws air from the exhaust manifold)? I've found these carbs for cheaper elsewhere, but i think they are sold as carb only, not in a kit. Would they just bolt up? Sorry if it sound like I'm ranting, just frustrated with my blown head gasket and ˟˟˟˟ty carbueration. Any helpful advice would be very greatly appreciated.
