Advice on what to take from another 4Runner

I have a 97 and want to do some work on it by upgrading to some of the 99+ models. I found some lady with a 4Runner shes parting out and has pretty much everything, ill be the first to pick the runner apart.

I am new to the scene, so what are some things I should take from the 4runner? mine is a 4x2, so no rear diff needed or hitch, please give me your input.

thanks a ton everyone, this forum is helping me soooooo much!!

mahalo nui,

jason

take the center console with the cupholders if you havent already done that. dunno what else you might want. if it has leather seats and yours doesnt you might want that.

True I know, I need to do the cup holder mod, I'm going to try and get the interior ebrake assembly too, from what ive read, it will be a simple plug and play transfer if i use that...right? or wrong?

Can you take the whole thing? Swap what you need and sell the rest later? That would be the ideal way to go.

The whole interior? If it's newer, it's probably in better shape?

Hey everyone, I checked out the 4runner, not the interior color for my ride. But I made nice with the seller and basically, if youre looking for a part yourself from this 2000 4Runner 2.7, let me know and I can get it for you and we can do the sale. Hit me up via email or continue with this post.

Mahalo Nui,

4runner4boards

PS...its Red with Tan interior!

Were talking cup holder mods, fresh inteior, spruce up some old parts, etc etc....let me know asap!!!

What trim package is it? If it had leather then it probably has the "wood grain" OEM trim around the gage cluster, ignition as well as the center console around the shifter.

As for the cup holder mod there are several good write ups (yes I did one too) and if you get the complete e-brake it will be "plug and play" One thing as well be sure to get the console mounting bracket that is used by the console in the 2000. It is different then the stock bracket that holds your present console. If you get theat mounting bracket, you won't have to drill the bottom of the console to mate up to your older center console mounting bracket. Do a search on my writeup on the cup holder mod and good luck, a really gr8 mod and one that is not too difficult. Enjoy!

yeah Ritzy...I will be taking those parts off next week...I read your write up and am excited I found these parts so its plug and play...only thing is her interior is tan and mine is moon mist, so I'll have the guts, but now I just need the dress...

Just so i understand, I need:

eBrake
eBrake "tub"
Center console mounting bracket

anything else?

This person (Bob) has a center console last i heard. Don't know if it's still available, but it'd be worth a shot to shoot him an email. Great seller, VERY knowledgeable about the 4runner. 4runners.org is is own website that has guided me through a few upgrades/maintenance issues.

http://4runners.org/forsale_cupholder.htm

ps- he also has the center ROOF console- he has a writeup for that and i added an addendum for the wiring (so you won't have to cut the lens up). good luck!
