Adjusting 3.0L Valves

I hear the valves on the 3.0 are to be adjusted periodically. If so what is the interval at which they should be adjusted. I am new to the overhead cam thing and have never adjusted the valves on any motor so i am just wondering if it is something i can do at home. I am pretty good with a wrench but if its a tough job ill just leave it to the dealership.....thanks guys for any responses.

IIRC its every 70K miles.
Going by memory its a shim over bucket style, a special tool is needed to depress the valve so the shim can be removed to adjust lash. To do the passenger side the upper intake plenum needs to be removed.
If you have ever done valve adjustment on a late Japanese OHC motorcycle engine its similar just bigger parts

Mr Pogo is right on the money. I got my tool from MAC and it made things a lot easier. If you're gonna attempt it, read up on it first.

I used an angled feeler gauge with metric measurements on it. Take your time when making the measurements. The first time I did it it took me 2 hours just to get some good measurements. Another 2 hours was spent on tearing the engine down to get to the cams.

If you need shims I would buy them from the dealer. I bought mine for like a quarter each. I also heard its good practice to apply engine lube to the cam lobes once you're done.
