added a coinholder in console

i bought a coinholder off ebay a couple weeks ago to put inside the console bc i had no good place to keep change (no ashtray). its the same as the 4th gen coinholders.

i made this bracket out of some angle aluminum from lowes.

after those pics were taken i JB welded the nuts so they wouldn't loosen, then spray painted it flat black. i used short wood screws to attach it to the front plastic inside the console

no more sliding or rattling coins! well...except for pennies.

Looks good to me! Good idea on the bracket too. My 01 Tacoma came with a change holder in the top center consol. I wish they would have made it to hold $5.00 in quarters instead of just $2.50. It takes me about $5.00 worth of quarters to wash my truck at the car wash after running around in the booonies, Lol.

Great idea. I hate the coins making all kind of noise in my ashtray when I hit a bump. I have seen Bob's mod, just been lazy...

i threw that piece away. ....took up too much room in my console.

i ended up lining my ashtray with a few pieces of the fuzzy side off some velcro. ...works like a charm!

umm, did you know that the upper lid of the console has a change holder? The change rattles a little in there but I was thinking of lining it with silicone or stips of velcro to cushion the change.

No I didn't. After your post, I went back to my truck and couldn't figure out what you were talking about but noticed that the lid (from the bottom view) had an indentation that looked like a coin holder above. After a bit of fussing around with the top, I realized you can lift the lid without using the handle and there is the coinholder and an extra space holder that could hold a few other things. How cool. Should probably add this to the thread on what did you discover about your truck.

I have a '99 so you may be right about when it started if you have a '98.
