Add a leaf kit....any good?

I am looking to do a lift on my tacoma to get rid of the rub. 2 1/2" or 3". either or. i noticed the add a leaf kit and am just wondering it thats good or not. seems like it would be the easiest. im not really sure what to look for in lifts. also if i lift it 2 1/2" or 3" do i have to worry about longer driveshaft or any damage to the differential?

Perfectly fine - if you're worried about the angle of the driveshaft you can use washers as spacers - there are tons and tons of this stuff written everywhere.

oh yeah, forgot to mention - you'll usually see it as AAL in all these places. Do a search here on AAL and you'll find a lot of hits.

Do you think i should worry about my driveshart angle? since its not a huge lift....

with the AAL(haha im learning) kit would i need new rear shocks? i am planning on getting them soon but just wondering if i have to make the purchase at the same time.

Driveshaft angle - not sure. I plan on putting a lift on and driving for a while. If I feel a vibration then yeah, I'll be putting some spacers there. I'm not sure on the rear shocks. I'm learning too, I just have a head start

What kind of lift are you getting?
If you're getting a spacer lift up front then check out Cornfed (google search cornfed suspension) and they sell a pretty well-priced full suspension lift.

If you check out TTORA's national board the Cornfed guy posted there saying they have a Tax Man sale that's good to the end of this month.

i found an AAL for 160 that has a 3 inch spacer up front and then the leaf for the rear. i know that AAL's dont last that long....but i just want somthing that will get rid of the rub and stuff until i can really learn about them and get what i want.

I have used add-a leaf's in in old '94 Ranger, and installed them on my brother-in-law's old 89 Bronco II. Neither of them were sagging when they were sold.

I had not heard that AAL was a temp fix. I always assumed that it was as permanent as the rest of the leaves would be?

If you have a 3 inch spacer up front and are leveling out in the rear then you'll definitely need rear shocks.

I was under the same assumption.

I could see how helper springs could be a temp fix, but not an AAL.

i just read somewhere that he put it on an OME AAL and after about a year they started to sag an inch.

I have a 3" cornfed spacer lift sitting in the garage so I'm in the same boat as you
Yes, you will need new shocks for the front if you plan on putting those in. I haven't gotten around to calling Mike but you better believe I will once I get committed to this.
