Legacy 4Runner

I see a brown and black screw caps on the AC lines, which is high and low? Know any good sites for AC retrofitting? Particularly on 4runners??

If you are not certified then don't mess with a retrofit. You have to evacuate the system and pull a vacuum, which I highly doubt you will have the tools to do it with. R12 is one the EPA will really be serious with.

Agreed...take it to a service center or mechanics shop and let them pull a vacuum on the system and have a new schraeder valve put in the high side and recharged with r-134. I had a friend that was a mechanic that done it for me last summer and I still have cold air.

yeah, take it to a shop. also, if there is any freon still in there and you make a mistake, it will blind you if it hits your eyes. there is also specific oil to use with R12 which is different from R134a. yes, just take it to a mechanic.

Mineral oil in r12 and PAG in 134A but mineral oil should be used on the o-rings in 134. Definitely take it to a mechanic. We've had a few people mess with their A/C systems and screw it all up and wind up taking it to us anyways. If they had the know-how, certifications, and equipments in the first place they would have been ok.
