? about rear speakers

I removed my door panels on my '00 4-runner and replaced the front speakers with some pioneers yesterday, but circuit city was completely out of 4" for the rear doors. So, my question is I noticed the factory speaker has 3 screws to hold it in, but all the 4" speakers i've looked at has your normal 4 holes, is there a 4" out there with just 3 holes or do I just have to make it work. It's not that big of a deal I can make them work but if someone knows a good way to go about it then that would save me some head scratching.
Thanks Everybody!

you just have to make it work. there should be some bracket/spacer that comes w/ the speakers.

If Possible you could always drill the extra holes required in the Flange!!

Some people have actually fit 5.25" speakers in there.

The factory speaker size is actually a 4T, which nobody makes anymore.

Just drill some new holes, and call it a day!!

those adapters are pretty affordable. Esp. considering I was cutting some out of wood. What about door panel vibrations?

I haven't used them myself but will be soon. A few members on here said they work great. There made of ABS plastic so vibrations shouldn't be a problem and no one had mentioned any...but if there is, that could be fixed by cutting a thin piece of rubber/gasket material and placing it around & inbetween the speaker/adapter/door. Most, if not all aftermarket speakers already come with a thin peice of foam padding that can be used in the same manner.

Also, while your interior panel is off, that would be a good time to put some sound deadening material on the sheet metal of your doors.

i upgraded my whole system and i bought the adaptors for the rear doors on ebay. They weren't expensive, i can't remember the price of the top of my head but i was able to install 5.25 JBL Power Series with no problem. I bought a cheaper version of dynamat on ebay and did the whole car except the roof but i do plan on it in the new future. It makes a world of a difference.

Circuit City is pathetic!! Went by there yesterday evening to get the 4" speakers. I am using pioneers, got the front set sunday but as usual they were sold out of any 4" and they told me a truck was coming tuesday and they would have them then. Well went in to get them and they had gotten in every 4" except the pioneer! You see in knoxville they have a west side store and and east side. I live 20 minutes from the east one and 45-50 from the west one, well the west one is the main hub for the area. Out of the past 4 things I have bought there, 3 I've had to go to the west store to pick up, which is a pain in the butt. They had these at the west store and politly said you can buy them here and pick them up at the other store. I told him no, I am not going to drive another 35-40 minutes to get this stuff. I am going to call the store and talk with a manger today. If your going to have it on display, you need it in stock! Sorry guys just had to vent a little.

I hear ya! I've pretty much made a habit of getting off 640 at western ave. then taking middlebrook pike to get out west. My wife works out there at Lambert's Health Care, i'm out that way quite a bit.
