99 4runner pictures of tailgate wiring
I'm having issues with my 99 4runner 5spd, the tailgate has no power. I'm hoping someone has pictures of their connections so I can compare. It appears I have a few plugs without a place to go. The only one plugged in is a large grey connection which comes from the body harness and goes into the tailgate at the top(rubber boot). However there are three other which connections that I can't identify.

When you say no power to tailgate do you mean none whatsoever? Just certain things? is there no power at that grey plug or are there broken wires under the rubber boot you mention?

I do mean no power whatsoever. I dont hear any clicks or anything and nothing from the tailgate works. There were broken wires under the boot but I wraped and taped them up. How do I check if the grey plug is getting power? I have a multimeter but I havent been able to find a guide on properly checking the connections.
Update: I checked all the fuses and none appear to be blown. I also believe i've identified one of the white connections as BR2 which is in the picture. The large grey one that does connect to the tailgate is BR1. I followed the wiring through the car to the fuse under the drivers left side and there is a lot of corrosion under the wire but it appears to be intact. I tried resetting the rear wiper and it looks like the window is all the way up. I have a multimeter, and tried testing the grey connection coming from the car but never rear anything. I touched the black tip to the frame and red end to the different pins inside while on the continuity setting, I also tried this with the door closed and rear wiper set to on but never got anything. Not sure if thats the proper way to test.

The 4Runner has to think the rear window is up for most things to work, yes? Except- does the cargo light work in the 'door' position when you open it? Does the 3rd brake light work?
I don't have the wiring schematic to help testing, or the knowledge, either.
So...bump.
