99' and 03' Tacoma front spindle the same?

Switching lift kit over to new truck today and the spacer the came with my all-pro uca's is stuck in the spindle of my old truck (and no, I am an idiot and did not use anti-seize). I hammered on it for quite a while without a budge. I have been spraying penetrating oil on it for a week now.

Can I just take the caliper and rotor off and disconnect the spindle from the cv and bottom part and just switch it over with the spindle on my 03? They look the same but I was not sure about exact specs. Are the brakes the same also?

Thanks for any help!

The spindle assembly is the same and will bolt in. Does each have ABS?

The major difference you will run into is ABS, as scuba mentioned. 03 Tacomas have ABS, 99 Tacomas had an option for ABS but not all came with ABS.

Yep. Though, I'm not sure if the non ABS spindles will have provisions the ABS. Think you might have to switch out the speed sensor rotor for the spacer if one has abs and the other doesn't.

OP, you sure you took the snap ring off of that uniball adapter?

LOL, yeah I am positive. I could see that happening though!

My 99' doesn't have ABS so I will have to see if everything will switch and if there is a mount on the 99' spindle for the ABS.

Since this is starting to sound more and more like a PITA to swap spindles, do any of you have any creative ways to remove the uniball adapter w/o ruining it or the spindle? Heat maybe?

If you are switching '03 spindles on your truck, just disregard the ABS. It will work just fine. If you happen to have ABS, then viola it will plug in!

DeathCougar,

You have me a little confused now. I am switching my 99' spindles that have the adapter in them to my 03'. The spindles on the 03' have to go to the 99' so I can sell the truck. The 99' does not have ABS, the 03' does. Can you explain a little more about your above post?

Ok my bad, thought you were going the other direction.

If you swapped 03 spindles onto a 99, you could merely disregard the ABS. Since you are swapping Non-ABS spindles from your 99 onto an '03, you are going to lose ABS.

I have never had ABS anyway but won't that screw with the computer?

Thanks for the help. Should have known better when I installed the lift. 1 little dollar tube of anti-seize and I wouldn't be going thru all this b.s.!
