'98 4Runner Diesel 4x4

1998 V4 4Runner Turbo Diesel 4x4

I bought my 4Runner in Panama and drove it back home but I can't find any parts for it here in the States. Toyota said they cant order the parts because they arent allowed. something about a trade agreement. Everywhere else I try can't believe there are diesel 4runners until I show them, and no one has parts for my engine.

I need a new water pump and timing belt. I cant drive it, it is overheating real bad.

I hope I can find the parts in the states, otherwise I'll have to get them shipped from panama. anyone else have this problem or the solution?

You actually got that registered in the states? I was under the impression you couldn't import vehicles until they were 20 years old or something like that.

Try one of the eBay international sites. I would start with Canada then try the UK.

Here's one I found on eBay.ca:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/89-01-Toyota-Dyna...item45f3b7f61e

Not sure if its the right one, contact the seller he may be able to get you the right parts.

try a search of 1KZ-TE. there were threads on that in here before and there was a link to the supplier of the engine.

Find out which other Toyota models they installed that engine in. Start searching under those models.

Also try Australian parts suppliers, they have a HUGE Toyota diesel market in Australia.

There is no VIN number, just these numbers. I know I can get parts from Panama faster than Australia but I hope to find the water pump here in the states so I can get home to South Carolina. I'm brokendown in Texas.

I found this water pump on that roughtrax UK site. Maybe this is the right part, I emailed them, waiting to hear back. It says it is for the 1KZTE but my chassis plate just says 1KZT

is a 1KZTE the same as a 1KZT ? maybe the E just stands for engine? (forgive my ignorrance)

I think this Hilux Surf is the same engine as my 4Runner...

E usually stands for EFI as in Electronic Fuel Injection

yea you are right, according to this thread, my 4Runner is a 1KZ-T, it has a mechancal pump and does not have an EFI. but maybe that is the only difference in the engines and they take the same water pump & belts....

I searched "1KZ-T water pump" on Google... $159, in stock, located in Sullivan New Hampshire.

Nice find!

BTW jealous of that turbo diesel, I'll take that off your hands if you're tired of searching for parts

thanks barrell roll, lol at pic...

I will call that place in the morning, along with a few other places, make sure I get the right part for my 4Runner. all the water pumps I found today have been specifically for Land Cruiser, Hi-Lux, and Surfs. I will make an order tommorow for sure, either within the States or outside the country.

I dug around. The E in this case means electronic control on the injection pump as opposed to straight mechanical--not quite EFI. Both use the same water pump OEM (Toyota) 16100-69356. In the UK suppliers call it J1512078. Here's one:

http://www.onlineautomotive.co.uk/Pr...ehicleID=28159

Canadian dealers may have access to this part but I could not find a source other than UK or Japan. You might try calling a Canadian dealer asking for a 93-96 LandCruiser with 3.0 L diesel engine (1KZT). part # 16100-69356. I doubt you can find it in US unless you get lucky.

EDIT: Dang, how did I miss Sullivan, NH. Nice, BarrelRoll...

thanks for the help Durk, I will check it out asap

the part in Sullivan, NH is 16100-69355 / Hi-Lux
the part you found Durk is 16100-69356 / LandCruiser

(different part numbers)

I'll call around tomorrow & find which is correct for a '98 4Runner
