Cool 97 ltd rear is sagging.

I know that the 3gen runners are not supposed to sag, but mine does a little, even though I have no weight on it, is it posible to bring the rear up about an inch installing longer shocks?

No, longer shocks will not help at all. You need better springs. You can order Downey or OME or PP rear springs that will fix the sag. Do you still have the stcok shocks under there? Look at this website for a lot of good information:

There is a recall on the 3rd gens also.

If its a 4x4 you will get: New rear springs and bumpstops.

2x4: New rear bumpstops.

Call the dealer with you VIN and see if you are eligible. You should be.

Is there a TSB number and the years effected by the recall?

after getting the recall performed, then order a set of TRD air suspension bags to level it out and soften the ride. do a search on here for more info. they are only about $40.

Thanks, looks like it only effects early 3rd gen 4Runners. Guess I'll have to get those Bilsteins after all!

Halza, I had the same problem with my '97. Mine sagged so bad, it would bottom out when I had 2 people in the back seats. I replaced them with Performance Products springs (this was before the recall was announced). These springs are a lot stronger than stock. I have never bottomed out even with my rig full of camping supplies and pulling my 18' boat.

Thanks a lot for the info, I actually had the recall springs installed not long ago, I will try the TRD bags and see what happens.

If they did the recall in the past 12 months, you should have the springs replaced under warranty. I would push the issue.
