Hi All -

Have a 97 4Runner, 2.7L, AT Thanks to the state of East Kalifornia (New York), I have to have all of my monitors working and CEL off to pass inspection. No big deal or so I thought.

Had a new rear O2 sensor put on (Toyota - thanks Dallas Toyota), wiring looks fine. On the way home get a P0500 - VSS since the speedo would not function. Now the CEL is cleared for the VSS but the odometer and speedometer work when they want to.

Checked for codes, the CEL is fine with no stored codes but my two 02 circuits and the Evap circuit have not reset. Have gone ~500 miles in true mileage, 100 on the odometer.

Questions:

1. Does the computer auto reset based on run time or do I need to keep driving for the odometer to trip the reset? Any other ideas on what the cause could be?

2. Thought my speedo problem was the cable needed grease, but obviously not since it threw the code. Works when it wants to and is very erratic part of the time, non functioning other times. Any idea where to start?
