'96 3.4L which fan clutch?

Hey guys,

I am getting mixed answers for which fan clutch to get for my truck. I currently have the original green fan clutch since I have the tow package with the 3.4L v6 4x4. I want to replace it with the exact one (Aisin).

Rock Auto says the Aisin FCT-013 is the exact replacement (Aisin catalog says FCT-013 is Toyota's part # 16210-62011). However, cross referencing that to the Toyota parts guide it says 16210-62011 is the fan clutch for the 4cyl and not the 6cyl... The Toyota parts guide says 08921-04950 is the clutch fan for the 3.4L v6. That parts number spits out the Aisin FCT-064.

I have called 2 different Toyota parts departments. The first couldn't figure out how to look up the fan clutch... The second gave me a parts # for AC compressor clutch (per the Toyota parts guide)...

I read an old thread on here form 2002 that said 16210-62011 (FCT-013) is the TSB for the 3.4L v6 fan clutch to increase towing capacity (green clutch). Now, that person could be wrong. Or the old Toyota parts guide could be wrong since its printed pre TSB. That is why I am all confused now. I also looked through some of the TSB's and couldn't seem to find said TSB.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

From your post it looks like you have failed to train your local Toyota Parts manger on how to look up different and exciting parts.

When you go to any of the Toyota online parts vendors enter your Vin what number does it give you??

Toyota is great for the same part having many parts numbers.

You also need to know just because a part was made by Aisin for Toyota it might not be able to be bought except through Toyota.

Napa only lists the Standard duty Fan clutch

Do you load down your cooling system quite often??

Making you need the higher Rpm fan clutch??

Yeah, I have failed to train 2 different ones! ha Yeah, some places online say 08921-04950 is the replacement for 16210-62011 (Aisin FCT-013). I just don't exactly what "replacement" means in this case since one person online bought the RockAuto FCT-013 and it had the green hub. Another bought the 08921-04950 from toyota parts online and it was the green hub. Maybe they are renumbering them?

I do push my truck a decent amount. I'll actually be making a 2300 mile trip with it soon fully loaded. I just want the best of the best!ha

Doing more research

The first Generation Tacoma`s never had a towing package

Some did come from the Factory with the hitch 4 pin flat plug converter box

A different pitched fan blade!!

Not fan Clutch !!

I can not figure out without getting into a geared fan clutch $$$$ how you would spin the fan faster then the engine rpm as things are driven by the crank.

After a visit at my local dealer and running 3 different VIn numbers mine the OP`s and a random Tacoma in for service the number that came up was 08921-04950 for the fan clutch

In the Toyota Parts catalog at no time was there mentioned a Heavy Duty Fan Clutch although there could be an after market one labeled as such or one from another application.

As far as The Service Manager Parts Manager and I could find.

If someone smarter then me which is pretty much everyone knows please post the answer.

Is there a heavy duty option maybe off another vehicle that fits
