94runner Cargo LIGHT replacement???

Yeserday on YotaTech, I found a VERY INFORMATIVE post with instructions for glove light replacement and I am hoping to have the same luck relative to my cargo light.

Can anyone direct me to an online instruction manual, etc. regarding the replacement of my cargo light bulb(s). There's nothing in the factory manual. I looked and there are no removable screws anywhere near that bad boi. ARgHHHHHH!!!

S.O.S.

Thanx,

runesong

it aint that complicated man...just pry the cover off...no screws or anything...if i remember correctly you have to kinda push the cover to the left and the right hand side will come out first...but its been a while since i did it....youll figure it out....

Talking

Thanx Kaiberg,

It was no sweat whatsoever... Hey, you've got a '95, do you have a cargo cover back there? My '94 didn't come with one OR the mounting system. I'm trying to figure out a way to remedy that considering I have a big ol' 12" woofer back there covered by a measley blanket... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - thanx.

i think the cargo covers came on the 3rd gens and on, let me know if you figure out a way to modify one to work on a 2nd gen, cuz i as well have my subs in the back only covered with a blanket.

it seems that the 2nd gen 4Runners here in the US didn't come with that option, but some canadian 4Runners did.

Couldn't you take the brackets off the 3rd gen and make a custom sliding cover?
Seems easy, but I've never seen anyone do it before.

my 93 has the mountings molded into the cargo side panels, just be prepared for the price of the cover. avoid the stealer at all costs on this part! try toyota1st or something like that, several membes have posted that they have some very good pricing on parts.

shipping would be a B*!$^ for one of those molding parts, since they're so big.

I didn't have one till last week either. I made a template and dremeled them out of the rear panels. I then driled the holes for the mounts where they needed to be and it worked perfectly. I made the template by rubbing a piece of paper with a crayon, making sure that there was a feature that i could use as a registration mark. Mines a 2nd gen and the cover came out of a 2nd gen.

I've got a cargo light in the roof line where the tweeters are mounted, its real easy to replace the bulb. Take a small flat-head screwdriver, pry the assemble down, pop the cover off and there you have it.

Shouldn't be that hard unless yours is different than mine. I actually had to buy a whole new light assembly from the dealer about a week ago, somehow the internal wiring of the unit got messed up, the new one works great though!

just a thought, if you can find a wreck, you may be able to cut out those holders and graft them into yours. make sure you take a large part around the holders for future cutting and fitting. youll have to pull both cargo panels to graft them in place but it will be a lot cheaper than ordering new panels.
