94 4runner seats in a 1st gen.
I was looking on ebay the other day and saw some 94 4runner seats for sale. they looked like they would bolt write into a 1st gen. Does anyone know if this is true or has anyone done it? if anyone has done this mod please post pics.

amen brotha, my first gen sr5's are soo nice in my 94 pickup. although you know the old saying... you cant compare benches and buckets. as far as bolting right up, you'll at least get 3/4 of the holes to line up, just drill and tap a new one.

its not a comfort issue as much as a broken issue. my passenger seat has a broken cable so i have to reach under the seat and pull the little tab to move the seat foward. and also they are both stained and not in great condition. just thinking maybe for a future mod. i dont have sr5 ( i dont know if they are different than the standard or not, other than them having the little "SR5" stitched in them). they might be differen because my seats arent to comfortable. i can feel a metal bar on my lower back when driving.

I have 94 seats in my 88' runner. Mine fit fine in my original holes. but there is a trick to it. you have to screw in the inside bolts first, then the outside bolts. the 1st gen bolt holes are about a 1/2 inch wider than the 94's, so you have to pull the outside rails to get them to line up. front and rear, the holes line up perfectly.
I have had these seats for about a year, and I like em', they work perfectly.
Before youbuy from ebay, check your local salvage yards. ususally there is a yard that carries tons of seats. I had two yard that had the seats, one set was $75, the other set was $25. (i bought the cheaper ones). And both sets looked excellent. But even at $75, thats cheaper than ebay when you include shipping.
Good Luck

BTW. that is the exact reason I replaced my seats, my passenger seat wouldnt work and i had to reach under to move it.

coming from a bench i too had to put a bolt through the opposite way and slide the seat onto it- one of the front holes where pokes through the side and not the top. i bough some low profile nuts and put a lock washer on it, holds and feels fine.
