94' 4runner 2jzgte swap

Hey guys this is my first post, and have been wondering a few things. i want to swap out my old (130K) 3.0 3vz-e engine with a 2jzgte. first off:
1: will it even fit?
2: what will i need to make it work?
3: Can i put in a transfercase on the supra tranny?
4: can i keep my stock trany and just rebuild it?
5: is it possible to retain somg legel?

thnks for the help!
Steve

1)7MGTE's from the earlier supras are tough to fit b/c of the length and from what ive read the 2J is several inches longer still, that along with the expense of finding a 2J motor makes the 7M a much more attractive swap.

2) As with any engine swap you need a complete longblock with all the accessories, the wiring harness complete, and the ECU, and a choice for transmission. Good luck trying to keep 4WD without making a custom bellhousing.

3) i dont recall anyone saying 100% sure if its possible or not, id say less likely for a 2J trans than a 7M trans. The 7M trannies are almost identical to the truck trannies.

4) If you are from cali forget about it, other states have varying laws about model year vs motor year conflict or even removing the OEM motor at all. Its technically not legal for me but i know someone who is going to "pass" it for me regardless.

ohh and take it from me, it will take longer, require more effort, and above all cost more money than you could ever plan on, but its alot of fun when you are done.

NCSU-4runner: thanks for the clear and to the point summary. I've got a buddy with an '87 Supra he's willing to let me canibalize. But it looks like I won't be taking him up on that any longer...at least not for a while.
