93' Clutch Install Tips ?

i'm doing my first clutch and rear main install on my 93 pickup this weekend. anyone have any good tips that might help me out? I got a shop manual from a buddy and it says to first to remove the fan shroud and then the heater hose clamp. why would i have to do this? also it looks like i can reach the top bolts on the bell housing but i'm not sure, is this possible to reach these? i have heard its easiest to use a long extention and go from the back. whats the best way?

When I did my '93 4Runner I didn't remove the shroud or hose clamp, though my manual also said to do that. The only reason I can think of doing that is for clearance when lowering the back of the engine.
As for the top bolts on the bell housing I reached them with a very long extension after removing the shifters and lowering the back of the tranny slightly. I found I could reach with a wrench through the wheel wells and up the side of the engine, but couldn't get enough leverage that way.
Hope this helps
