91 3vze burning oil.

Hello I'm new here, just registered. Love the site!! There is loads and loads of good info about yotas!! I've always driven yotas my whole life but never really worked on them myself until now. I'm looking to do all repairs and mods to my new truck. I just love yotas in general.

Well here's what's going on. My engine is a 91 3vze with over 280k. White smoke billows out of my tail pipe on cold start. I first thought was hg but there is no loss of power she never overheats, there is no bubbles coming into the radiator with the cap off and running., the coolant resovoir has been the same level since i purchase it about 3 weeks ago. She idles perfectly. The oil cap shows no signs of brownish gunk i mean everything seems fine but she's going through about a quart of oil every 2000 miles. I'm not very knowledgable with yotas yet but been reading and digging a lot trying to figure out what could be wrong. Maybe my rings are shot? Or maybe pcv valve stuck open? Trying to some feedback from the experts in this community if possible. Please, an advice or input woud be very much appreciated. I live in seattle Washington just bought the rig for 2300 and trying to make her into a reliable toy to go wheelin with.

Any help and advice is much appreciated.

Thank you!!

Nothing is wrong with your truck
1 quart of oil in 2000 miles is not excessive on a 280,000 mile engine.
You say it generally runs well.
Run your truck till it quits. It's not broke-Don't fix it.

Just curious-- What brand and viscosity of oil are you using??

Hey thanks for the input man I appreciate it.im using castrol high mileage 10w30.. That's good to know but I blows a lot of white smoke at start up and also if it idles for a while it will blow a little white smoke too. There's also a clicking/tapping noise I noticed at low rpms then once I get going it goes away but I can faintly hear the tapping at idle.. Not sure what but was thinking maybe a blown valve but from what I've read on here I'm hoping it's just my injectors.

Thanks again for the input man!!

At temperatures above freezing, it would'nt hurt to go to a 10w-40 oil

Would it be ok to add a quart of this before my next oil change? Even though I'm running 10w30 now?
