Exclamation 88 Runner transmission probs!!!!!!!!

I have an 88 4Runner 2.4 with a 5 speed and it's beginning to howl and pop out of 4th gear. 200,000 mi but still tight until now, any possible cheap fixes?????? How about rebuilding, is it cheaper than buying a rebuilt or used one and if not.......... what years and models will bolt in to my current set up?? Please help, need the transportation badly........
Thanks for your time................. TIM

Like me, you should have the W56 tranny in your rig. I've been considering a rebuild lately. Mine is real noisy in 3rd and 5th. I was driving it home (3 hour trip) from wheeling yesterday and it was screaming at me on the interstate.

Marlin's site has some info on it that might help: click here.

It just started howling about a week ago, really just a mild howl but definately getting more noticeable! TIM
