I bought an 85 pickup with a shell from a widow for $1800. The truck was serviced by Toyota every 3k miles, and had only 62,000 original miles. It was pretty much just a home depot / errand truck.

The truck is mechanically perfect. But, I'd like to know if there are some bolt on's that I can pick up that will help with a bit more power. It is bone stock right now. I've had a bit of trouble locating any good informational resources for this old truck, especially since it's a 2WD, 22R, 4sp. I think the stock power is 96hp (although I've also seen specs that say 103). The truck is pretty peppy because it's light, but if I can find more power, I'll probably buy into it.

I really don't want to open up the engine at all, so I'm curious about bolt-ons. Just not even remotely familiar with what's available, so any direction would be helpful.

You lucky dog you, poor lady had no idea what it was worth! Only 62k original miles It's called "old timer abuse"! I hope you offered to deliver her groceries for a year or something!

Well, I was hooked up by the Son, who was a co-worker. He knen I wanted a truck for Home Depot runs and brokered the deal. He knew I was getting a bargain, but, then again, blue book value isn't too far off. We all know KBB doesn't consider the local market though. I could probably sell this truck for about $4k to a local farmer or farm worker.

But anyway, back to the main topic for me, I'm still interested in knowing if thinks like K&N filters or exhaust changes make much difference in overall power for the 22R.

I should probably re-post this thread with a diff subject to try to get some specifics.

Not sure if it is avalible for 22r but what about a electric fan. The belt driven one does rob HP from the engine. Try a search on flex-o-lite or taurus fan mod.
