85 22re turns over fine, but won't run

So my girlfriend's pickup was running fine, she parked it out in front of the house, and the next day it turns over fine, but won't run. I had the starter and battery replaced around March of this year, so I doubt that that is the problem. I tried starting it up a few days ago, it caught and ran for all of about 3 seconds, then stopped again. I think that rules out the distributor cap, coil, plugs, and plug wires. Only thing I can think of is the fuel pump or filter. Sound right? Any other suggestions?

Doesn't role out spark plugs wire cap or coil or rotor. always start with those first.
Pull a spark plug and see if you have spark. If you do then check to see if you are getting gas, see if you smell it after you try starting it. Just a couple stupid Q's is there gas in it? not a cut, just a need to know. Then check the pump and filter.

Pretty good chance for a dead fuel pump. Crank it for a bit than crack the nut at the banjo fitting for the cold start injector. If there is any fuel pressure you should get some gas spray at that point.
You could also pull the fuel line at the fuel filter on the supply side, stick it into a bigger hose that is run into some sort of collecting container then crank it to see if there is any fuel delivery.
Toy fuel pumps on EFI engines like to drop dead like nothing happened. You might get a hint with a little slugishness beforehand then complete failure.
Too bad it's on a pickup. If it does turn out to be the pump, you have to drop the tank to get it out.
Good luck!

Sounds like a fule filter to me. It is a pain to replace so it tends to get neglected. I did it my self since it is a $65 job. Went in from the pasanger fender well.
