5VZ Remooval

I need help determining HOW to remove my donor motor as it still sits in a frame stub (section of frame where motor, tranny, and t-case are all still attached). I Know there looks to be a tab or hook on the driver side but don't think it's strong enough to pull the engine and tranny out. Which begs the question what and where to attach on the pass. side of the vehicle.

Yeah the 5VZFE doesn't come with a passinger side engine hook. If you have an old 3VZE around you can take it off and mod it a little to fit the 5VZ.

Or I heard some have used a single bolt into that side (plus the factory hook on the drivers side), but it sure would suck to drop it hehe.

I left the 3VZ hook on after installing it, just have to get rid of that extra air intake thingy:

Ohhh, well I have two 5VZ's so perhaps I can mod one of the Driver side hooks to attach to the pass. side. Hmm well I'm further ahead than I was. Thanks for the help. Any idea if these are just designed to lift the motor or motor and tranny?

Not sure, the FSM says to remove them together so maybe they are. I like to remove the tranny first. I've seen it done all at once but you must have an engine leveler and a lot of head room in the shop. Even then its easy to break the windshield in the process.

I doubt you can use the drivers side hook on the pass side.

Oh, well for the time being this is what I'm dealing with, I mean I guess I could just pick t he tranny up but I wanted to store them connected on a palette.

SO no windshield to bust, hell nothing to hit other than my head. When I reinstall it (donor motor) in my runner the hood will come off and yea....

Well it rolled 3 times because a drunk driver hit my brother about 2 years ago.

We already removed the roof and doors.

I've got 230K and there are no issue, but I'm not swapping them right now I'm just getting this damn motor on a palette so I can move it easier that I can now, not to mention space this frame stubs takes up. I will swp em out around 250 or hell 300K. Any idea what I could expect to get money wise from my 250K or 300K 4RUnner motor?

I remember a 3VZ that hit a million, set your goals higher. Hell you have a back-up ready to throw in just take it to the edge and see how far it will go (maybe have AAA just in case).

Well they are both 5VZ (current and donor) and have AAA.

with that set up take a chain or strap and wrap it around the tranny use the stock hook and another chain between two bolts on the pass. side and find the balancing point. Make sure to rig the tranny strap up behind the shifter or around the shaft. will not flip as long as you have a triangle going on with the attachment points.
