4wheel drive disengaging
It has been snowing here in Germany and I have had some problems with my 4wheel drive. I don’t have any problems engaging/disengaging the 4wheel drive while stopped. I can hear the solenoids working and everything moving just fine. While moving at any speed when I take it out of 4wheel it takes about 200-300 yards before the 4wheel drive disengages. When it does there is a loud clunk (with and with a load on the throttle) but no grinding.
I was thinking that something was sticking in the hub assembly. Any else have this problem or is this normal?

the clunk is 'normally worn' parts (propeller shafts/joints) or slip yoke needs grease

ok thanks for the info. I am new to the older Toyotas. My last Toyota was a 2001 Tacoma and then I moved full size Dodge diesels, so I never had to worry about it that much. I just sold my 2006 Dodge 2500 Mega Cab diesel (kind of big for Germany) and got this 4runner.
I will start with a good greasing, how would I go about finding out if it is the propeller shaft?
