4WD won't engage!
I am posting this for a friend who has not yet found the joys of Yotatech. We got some decent snow fall today and he wanted to run in 4WD but says it won't engage. Shift lever moves down and even Low Range works but no front wheels turny. Said the light doesn't come on and he is POSITIVE it's still in 2WD. Not sure when the last time he had it in 4WD but it's probably been a while. The Runner is a 94 fully loaded. Hope you guys can help! I did a search and got 16 pages of stuff and I don't have time to search right now.
Thanks!
EDIT: Just did another search and found a thread. Looks like could be a vacuum hose possibly. Any other ideas. I suggested to him to kick it into 4WD and just drive slowly for a ways and see if it comes on. Also suggested backing up.

Joey, yes a vac hose sounds like it might be a problem.
Also there is a white plug on the front differential for the ADD that might have come lose.
That wire is for the green light on the dash to indicate when it's in 4WD.
I'm not sure if it comes disconnected or not if will prevent the engaging of the ADD sleeves or not.

If it is a vacuum hose, and he wants to get it replaced, he should get an estimate. If it's more than $100, he should probably just replace the ADD hubs with manual locking hubs. It's a straightforward mod--if I can do it, anybody can!
