4th gen V8 owners...low range 4WD ?

Ok,

I am officially confused.

For those of you with 4th gen Runners with the silky V8, can you have a 4WD with low range.

The web site and brochure are confusing...

The V8 with 5 speed automatic is full time AWD all the time. To put it in 4Lo simply shift to N and turn the knob. The 4Hi/4Lo knob is located to the left of the A/C controls in the center of the dash.

Do you mean, can it be switched from full-time 4WD/AWD to 4WD Lo ?

If the the answer is yes, but it has to be in neutral to make the switch.

Cool,

The wording of the brochure is confusing...

For a minute then I thought I would have to give up the V8 :pat:

It has to be in neutral. You can only use the DAC in 4LO only. FYI

You can only use 4Lo w/DAC when the transmission is also shifted to 'L'. DAC does not work in 4Lo with the transmission in 'D', '3' or '2'. It takes a few trys to get the transfer case to un-shift from 4Lo back to 4H, which can be annoying while on a trail, etc.

v8 4x4 = fulltime 4 wheel drive with 4lo/4hi option
v6 4x4 = parttime 4 wheel drive with 2hi/4hi/4lo option

as for the dac... it's a pos that works but damn it's annoying... beeping n stuff... i personally don't like it but hey atleast i know it works

to engage 4lo in any system, you must be in neutral once in 4lo you can engage the dac (for those who have em).

Downey - only cuz they're close to where I work and I'm their sucker (testing purposes). They already have the front coilovers done and ready to install. They're still waiting on the rear coils and they're set. Just waiting for their call to drop off the 4runner so they can install it and make sure everything fits and works properly b4 they hit the shelves.

also I'm working with King Shocks on their awesome coilovers too (hehe so i'll have two...) but anyway that's still awhile away cuz i told them it'll be after Downey (which they didn't mind).

Just got an E-mail from Pro-Comp. They are working on a 4th Gen. lift. They say that they are doing mass R&D and that they should be available within a year.

Way too long to wait for a Pro-Comp.

Fab-Tec has no plans as of yet.
