4th Gen seat height change

Does anyone have any opinions on if the seat height or mounting bracket on front seats could be lowered. Dont even know where I could go to to ask. I know this maybe expensive if can be done.
If I could even lower the seat one more inch would be good.
But my only other option is to hold on to my 2003 4runner until the nissan dune hawk comes out and then trade in. Only seen pictures but seems like the only other thing I would like in my price range.
Yes I know it was stupid to buy in the first place without a longer test drive. But I loved just about everything eles about the 4 runner I thought I could get used to or live with the problem. Hell, just from seing a few of the new 4runners, I had made my mine up to buy even before I test drove one. But I do plan on keeping this for 10 years plus if I can fix so even if expensive may be worth it. Am I wasteing my time even thinking about this?

Thanks for any suggestions

An Idea is to go to an auto upolstery shop and have them put in a thinner seat bottom cushion or cut the stock one thinner, use the stock fabric.
It should not cost much although you would be without your truck for a day.

rayh78,
I've been thinking about the exact same thing. I wish the seat was like an inch or even an half inch lower. My hair brushes up against the sides of the roof from time to time and it starts to get kind of annoying. I love everything else about the truck and plan on keeping it for a very long time. Let me know if you figure anything out!

Was hopeing there was another way maybe with a custom mounting bracket to the floor. If I took out seat padding I would worry that would cause another problem. Comfort wise I think the current seats are good but dont think they could afford to be less.
But thanks for one idea.

How tall are you, Im over 6 feet and don't have a problem.

I put the seat all the way back and then recline it gangsta style not really but thats how I drive and I don't get how some people drive up right like their sitting at a table.

I always check to see my wrist touches the top of the wheel perfectly if my back/shouders are to the seat.

Isn't their a 3rd Gen owner who highered his seat to see over the wheel I mean lowered

I am 6'1". But I have heard other tall drivers say no problem and others say this was a problem. I can only guess with some tall drivers they have more of thier height in the legs. Also one guy said he even had more headroom in his Rav4. I think maybe this is why Lexus made such a big change for thier model when they realized the problem. I went to the 4runner from a lexus LS400 car and I do have to admit they seem to plan for everything and are designed almost perfect.

I keep seat all the way back and reclined a little. Then the steering wheel down a little but still cant rest my wrist on wheel.

yeah, I'm 6'4" and my old 01 rav4 had about an inch more headroom with a sunroof than my 03 4runner has. I have my seat all the way back and reclined just a bit, but at that point it's a long reach to the steering wheel and isn't very comfortable. For long trips that driving position is fine, but around town I like being a little more upright and closer to the steering wheel.

Hi,

I´m 6´4¨and always have to buy the Xl--size tall shirts! I have a 00 and I had a welder who knew what he was doing lower my drivers seat--the cost was $100. I have driven the 4th gen and understand your problem--Toyota claims there is more head room then the 3rg gen but I have to disagree
