Thumbs up 4th Gen Resale

I had to sell my 4th Gen a little earlier than planned due to a temporary cash crunch described earlier. FYI, I made $2,500 net more than I paid. I'd say a 107% 10 month residual isn't shabby! Do this every year for awhile, park the funds in a no-touch account and eventually start paying cash for vehicles.

Details on how I've done it for the past twenty years are available through Search. Briefly, I buy at fleet prices, live in Oregon (no sales tax, TT&L of ~$20/yr), buy the first year of new or newly redesigned Toyota models, order to spec with something special on them (the 4th Gen had the rear air suspension), in the most popular color, sell around model year changeover after new (usually higher) prices are announced and dealer stock is the lowest all year. It sold for almost all the money in two days, although for less than usual because I was in a hurry. So, it was a win/win, and a very happy Explorer convert got a great deal and plans to go wheelin' soon!

Next up is an '04 Prius. Ah well, already half of the '04 US production run is sold out, so I expect a decent ROI while getting 60mpg.
