4Runner runs fine but won't restart when its hot outside
I've got a '97 4Runner V6 and its having some trouble with the heat. It's been running great all winter (upstate NY). The problem I;m having is that once or twice last summer and again yesterday when it was hot (around 80 degrees outside) it would not restart after I let it sit for 5 - 10 minutes.
I drove it down to PA yesterday (about a 2 hr drive) and after I got there it sat for maybe 20 min and when i went to start it back up it didn't want to fire. It turns over fine and I had to pump the gas pedal for 10-15 seconds to get it to finally cough and sputter and it finally fired back up. It did the same thing to me last summer but it was a random thing and the only common denominator I'm seeing is the outside temp.
In PA the temp was 80 degrees, when I got back to NY i stopped to fill up my tank and it was 60 degrees out. I didn't have any trouble starting it back up after the fill up.
Any suggestions?

Mr.Black I am having the same problem with a 98 4runner with 210,000 miles. I have removed an old remote start system, change TPS, fuel filter, clean IACV to no aval. Let me know how that coolant temp sensor works as I have given the wife the keys to the taco until I can fix the runner.

I got the sensor ($13 on ebay) and put it in but it hasn't been hot again here lately so I haven't been able to test that theory yet. So far it seems to be running fine.
