4runner problems

I just got done rebuilding the motor {22r} and replacing the clutch in my 84 4runner a couple of days ago. I'm still having a crap load of problems with it though and was hoping someone out there had answers to my questions.

1. The power steering is not working hardly. I tried bleeding it according the Chilton manual, and nothing. It worked fine before I pulled the motor.

2. The brakes are barely working. I never messed with anything on the brake system when I was working on the engine, but I figured maybe it got some air in it somehow when I was bleeding the slave cylinder. I bled the brakes at all 4 corners and nothing. I'm still 90% dependent on the gears to slow me down.

3. I replaced all the clutch stuff and bled the slave cylinder a buch of times and it still shifts the same as it did before. It won't go in reverse half the time, and it makes some awful metal pinging sounds when I shift it sometimes. The book says something about an adjustment nut on the slave cylinder pushrod, but I didn't see one on my truck.

4. My oil pan has a whole in it. I knew it was bent up pretty badly when I had everything apart, but I didn't think there was an actual hole. The engine was leaking in so many places it would have been impossible to tell anyhow. I put a bunch of silicone, spray paint, even rain patch for roofing houses on the oil pan to stop the leak. None of it worked of course. Is it possible to replace the pan without raising the motor? It didn't look like there was enough clearance with all the steering stuff in the way.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'll offer my assistance but I don't have any answers.

First, I'd say don't drive it. That's not only dangerous for you but for the other people out there. The brake problem sounds like it's related to vacuum. Maybe you have some lines routed incorrectly or something.

For your transmission, I'd say it might be time for a rebuild.

That's all I can suggest.

The only hose I seen going to the brake system hooks up to the intake. I'm sure it's hooked up correctly cause the only other place it could go is one of the fittings for the fuel hoses.

Are you SURE your brake booster's working? I mean can you even tell a diff b/w the brake power with the engine on vs when it's off?

As far as your power steering goes, I don't knwo what to tell you. When i did a rebuild on a car and let my PS sit for about 7 months without use, it did the same thing... just stopped working. I tried priming it and all, with no help. Just went to the junk yard and got another.
