Question 4Runner picture

Does anyone have an jpg or something of the 4Runner text that is on the tailgate of 3rd gens? I found some on the net, but they aren't straight on shots.

I'm building a sub box and I'm going to have a lighted 4Runner emblem on the back of it, so I need the dimensions of the text. I have an owner's manual, but it's at my parent's house which is an hour away. Eventually, I'm going to go home and get it, scan it in, and then get it printed into a vinyl sticker, but I can't do that until the box is built, which is what I'm doin right now

If anyone happens to have a high-res image of the 4Runner, that'd be even better

Thanks!

The closest I've found is Bob's tailgate w/ the 4Runner "ghost"... LoL This is a pic from his black pearl emblems.

*edit* come to think of it, I can probably use this image. It'd be nice to have a better pic though. I can only cut this wood once... As they say, measure twice, cut once!

Oh, forgot to mention one thing... I'd go and just snap a picture of my own tailgate, but it's 4Runner-emblem-less from when I had the license plate surround painted :pat:

SWEET!!!! YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!!!!

The problem now is that my gf just called me at midnight and told me that we're leaving TOMORROW (thurs) at 10am to Las Vegas, not Friday. DOH. I had to throw the huge mess I made building the box into the garage and now I gotta shower, pack, and drive the one hour to her place... OY.

Thanks again guys!!!

Finally done!!! Here's what I needed the 4Runner picture for.
If anyone needs the 4Runner logo for personal use, I have a super high-res version I made.

The panel is backlit by blue neon. It's an inverse sticker stuck onto a piece of white plexi, with another piece of clear plexi in front of that, which has mirror tint applied to the back of it.

I still need to build a box for my other 10" since I only had enough airspace for one sub in its current spot. The other box is just going to be a normal box that sits back there on top of everything. I had clearance issues with this sub as well as the airspace issues. I only have 6.75" of vertical room to work with, and the sub has a 5.75" mounting depth (the mdf is .75" thick). I was worried that .25" wasn't enough room for the pole vent to breathe, so I cut out the wood under the magnet, and fiberglassed a wall back in that turned out about .25" thick, so now it has .75" to breathe

I'll take some pictures of it lit up later tonight.

how does that one ten sound pointed in that direction. I tried pointing a brahma ten in the direction and i got no reflextion of the sound waves to the driver seat. I put a ported box in and faced it to the back and now it could make you sick. CHris

Jason,

That has got to be one of the best looking cargo boxes I've seen! Great job. Are the other sections (where the sub isnt' located) usable? Can you take some more pics?

Also, do you have a plan of your cargo box? I'd be interested in checking it out.

Bob

impulsebrklyn: That's the catch actually... I spent all this time building the box and I haven't even heard it yet. My sub amp was just repaired (long story why it blew) and I haven't gotten it back yet. :pat: I'll let you know when I get it though.

Brian: thanks!

Bob: It's actually mostly a sub box My original plan called for about 1/3 of it to be a storage space, but getting 1.0-1.2 cu ft for the sub was difficult. I think I quoted my calculations wrong in the previous post, too. I think what it came out to was that the pole vent was going to be sitting on the wood. I changed my plans a lot while building it to try to squeeze out more room. Well, the interior of the box ended up being only 5", so trying to get even one cubic foot (1728 cu in) out of that was hard. On top of that, I had to make room in the corner of the box so that the two 3" fans on my amprack could breathe, plus leave room on the right side of the box for the amprack's exhaust fan, and THEN the indent for the neon on the back of the box... All this left a storage cubby only about 6" wide :pat: The box is somewhere around 1.05 cu ft though. I forgot what exactly it came out to. And to think, I was originally going to put both subs back there like that. Even going w/ the min airspace, that'd be 1.6 cu combined, which woulda been a HUGE headache to squeeze in there.

Well, if you want some plans, I have a really beat up piece of paper that I can scan in that has doodles and measurements that I made to help visualize the box as I was building. They're not exactly "plans" though, more of a "rolling estimation"
