Yeah, the left side is tweaked at least to the B pillar. I think the axle is tweaked & the rt front tire was jammed into the curb so who knows what happened there. I will find out in the morning if the Sheriff caught the driver.

It really sickens me to see that much destruction knowing foul play was involved. Hope they find the pos who's responsible.
Good luck Paul.

Damn man, sorry to hear.

Looks like something pretty big hit you, or else you would think that it wouldn't have been able to drive off if it caused that much damage.

Hope the catch the lowlife that did it!!!

Never a dull moment huh?

Well at least the Sheriff is doing something about it...I got hit in my driveway a few years ago, and they didn't do anything for me because it happened on "private property". Meanwhile the guy drove through 2 front yards and ended up going through our fence and into my truck.

Anyways -- I bet the guy didn't have insurance eh? Hope you get your $$ easier than I did.

Wow, I too would hate to come home to that...that sucks.

I'm amazed that what ever hit you was still able to drive off. Geez...

I can't get the report from the Sheriff's for 7-10 working days. A neighbor who saw me taking pics said she saw a car about 2 blocks away with 2 patrol cars around it. There was damage to the car, but no glass on the street. Hopefully that was the car.

Gave the info to my insurance & they will be treating it as a hit & run for the time being. It looks like I won't know much else for about a week.

Thanks for all the good thoughts. I hope I get enough out of it to replace it.

Since I work for an insurance corporation that only does auto's....i'm going to say its written off. Heavy frame damage in the rear...not to mention those panels are one piece so basically the whole rear panel would have to replaced. That's an easy 7-10 thousand $$ in parts/labor. Its really a shame with that low of mileage...I try not to write off 4Runner's when they come in..or at least send it for a detailed estimate.

From what I can see, I'm pretty sure it's totaled. My question is will I get enough to replace it?

So how does that work if they treat it as a hit and run does it raise your rates and count against you? BTW sorry about the runner.

It's not supposed to, but the insurance companies never really lose.
We have something called "Uninsured Motorist" coverage that's supposed to cover things like this.

Good luck man. I was hit this winter when mine was sitting in a parking lot. Same corner, but nothing compared to the damage you have. A witness wrote down the make, model, plate number, some description of the driver and the worthless pigs still didn't do anything. I ended up paying for the repairs myself because while a hit & run shouldn't affect your rates, you know it will. In case you didn't know the entire roof and both rear quarter panels are one piece of sheet metal...spendy.

if it turns out to be totalled, you can still keep the truck for parts. you can buy it at salvage value. then you can keep it as a parts truck and get another 4runner. here's how it works:

your ins co. says its totalled and offers you X. You decide if you're ok with that figure. if not, you research vehicles just like yours in classified ads in your town, and send that info to the ins co. to justify your perceived value.

once you agree on that figure, you then offer to buy the salvage. you keep the truck, send in the title, get a check for the difference between the TL value and the salvage value. then you can part it out, and junk the frame when done. good luck bro!

When my 4Runner was totalled a few years ago, the insurance company said I could have it for $2100. However, this was during the "good times". With this economy, I'm guessing a lower buy-out? Depending on the actual damage, it wouldn't be a bad way to go. You'd have a truck paid for (assuming you didn't pay cash for it on 5-8) and you could build it up right away with a rear steel bumper, lift, etc.
