4runner Limited Owners: Suspension in Inches

Hey guys,

I have a 98 Limited 4runner as the title says, and I was wanting to know how many inches there are from the ground to the middle of your fender flare.

I have ~34.5" all around.

Tell me your inches ( ) and the suspension, shocks and coils and all that goodness.

Thanks!!! I really appreciate anyone who can give me some numbers.

I get just over 35.5" from the middle of the fender on my high side. And 35" at the lowest corner. I also have a 98. But mine is an SR5. Plus, according to the sticker it was made in october of 1998, so maybe it has some 99 stuff going on.

What kind of flares do you have? I bet its about the same because IIRC the sr5 flares are a little higher.

Thanks for the info though

OME 881 & 1/2" spacer up front; 891 rear, stock shocks all around & 285/75/16 @ about 28psi; sr5 flares.
Front: 38" Rear: 38 1/2" from ground to bottom edge of flare.
From center of hub to fender flare 23" front & 23 1/2" rear. (probably a better way to measure lift kits)
Measurements are approximate (+/- 1/4"), it's dark and starting to rain out there.

hrm..

Looks like I'm at about right for stock, maybe a bit low.

Anyone have pp 1" shocks? I might get some and want a bit more than 1" of lift, but I don't know how much they'll really give me.

If all you want is 1" why no go with a body lift? Much cheaper and easier to install yourself. Not to mention makes working on some things under the truck easier. Just food for thought...

I can get some used billy shocks and 1" pp springs for a pretty good deal, I wish I could just get the shocks and upgrade springs, but the guy wants to sell it as a package.

Anyone have these springs and have measurements? I'll try some searching.

I got the SR5 with the sport package which has those flares. I don't have the measurements, but be careful. I have the PP 1" combo with billies and it is STIFF. I am going to be making some sort of switch in the next few months. Just a little to stiff when there is no one or anything else in the car to loosen them up a little bit. Just my .02

I seem to be hearing that a lot about the billys

Do they loosen up after time? the pair I'd be getting has about 30k miles.

I'm also thinking about getting the tokico shocks all around and then some OME springs.

Mine is sitting at 39 1/4" front and almost 39 3/4" rear.

That's with 285's, a 1" BL, and Toytec lift # Run3-DR (link below)

I just measured mine.... I'm at 35.5" front and rear (with 265/75 on). I was beginning to wonder about mine sagging in the rear because it's pretty rough riding even over large cracks in the road. It sounded and felt like it was bottoming out. Today I had my rear tires off because I was cleaning up and painting my brake drums and I noticed my bump stops (the ones inside my springs). I have about an 1 1/2" gap which I thought was good because I've read others only having 3/4". But after really looking I noticed the "imprint" from the puck in the dust below it. So it looks like that was why it feels and sounds so rough. I think they are bottoming out. I'm trying to get several good pay checks behind me before ordering a SS #1 lift, but at least now I can justify it....

Also, wouldn't it be a better measure to measure from the center of the hub to the wheelwell? That way it doesn't matter what tires people are running.... If that's the case mine is 21" on the front, and 20.5" in the back.

True measure is how high the diff is off the ground front and rear.

I am at 34 1/2 in the front and 34 1/4 in the rear. This is with 265/70R16s and super saggy springs. Still better than an 01 I see! Hehehehehe...

Thanks to Chaplain (thanks Steve!) I have Downey 3" springs going in the rear and DC 4x4 Tundras going in the front in a weekend or two. Pretty stoked.
