4Runner hood black-out
Threw this vinyl hood black-out on my 4runner today. Worked with Trevor (Isotel over on IH8Mud--not sure if he's on here as well...) from Crawlorado.com to get this made up for my 4Runner. He hadn't done any for the 3rd Gen at all yet so this was the first. I think it needs to be a few inches longer, possibly down to where the hood contoured lines start. Could possibly be a slight bit wider as well perhaps... I like it though.
They currently have them available for a few other vehicles as well. I had one from them on my old 80 series Cruiser.

I do need to get my lights on there. Been waiting to do it at the same time as a winch.
And I must say, i do dig the look of the scoop hoods. Don't think I'll ever be gettin one though.

So It's new but I think it looks good...nothin' wrong with adding aesthetics if tastefully done. Least it's not carbon fiber print.
Nice doing something different ferg. Any info bout how long it withstands the elements? Whats used and hows it applied?

The jury is still out on how long it will actually stand up to the elements. I know a couple rigs that've had them on for almost 2 years now and still look about the same.
And here's a quote regarding the material and installation from a thread on another site that started it all:
The Material Is 3M Cast Vinyl, 2 Mil, (Designed for large vehicle wraps).. The 2 Mil is easier to conform to curves, and is thin enough that you barely will see the edge.. This is the good stuff, we could have gone with some cheaper material, but id rather not have any issues...
I am by no means an Expert at Installing large graphics, i will be putting on the first test one tomorrow. and taking some photos for a little application guide. you can find Many online sources that have all kinds of ideas on how to install them properly. The Basics is you want to ensure that the vinyl is in the proper place, then tape it down, Tear off the backing on one side of the hood, and use application fluid, set the vinyl down and use a good (new) squeegee too push out the bubbles.. then peal the backing from the other side and do the same.. a Heat Gun may help and if you have any bubbles, you can put a small hole in the vinyl to work them out. It sounds easy, but can be tricky. any window tint place could put it right for you!

Looks good Ben. I need to get one of those to cover up my ugly hood where the paint is fading. Don't know if the black would look good on a green 4runner though.

looks good although I agree a little wider and longer might look better, but why vinyl and not just spray paint? If it's to allow for removal and put the hood back to oem, it's gonna need to be repainted after removal after an extended amount of time anyway because the hood will fade around the vinyl but not under it kinda like what happens with a bra on a car.

It cuts down on glare, and it looks cool, I think anyway. I want one now. Whats so bad about trying to make your truck look good?
You could spray paint one on there, but I don't think it'll look as clean.
Was it hard to get it on there just right?

I like it, it looks good.. Yes, it would look sweet with a hood scoop but ya did good with what ya have. I would do it, but it def. would be at the bottom of the list.

I think it looks pretty nice! It kind of reminds me of the muscle cars back in the day that had the flat black stripes and decals.
When I got my scooped hood, I thought about just going with flat black like it was in the e-coat primer they ship parts in. I think it would have looked pretty Bad-Ass but I matched it instead, looks nice but looking back I should have saved the money and just gone flat black. I think you're on to something here. Reduced glare is nice too.

Definitely Diggin' the decal! Reminds me of the newer Charger R/T (like on this limo!)
