4Runner ecu??

4Runner ecu??
I have a 98 4runner limited 4wd auto. I put a MAF sensor out of a 99 and later 4runner, tacoma in it because it is much less restrictive compared to the 98 style. my question is: is the ecu different between the years? i assume that it does. i ask because it keeps throwing a p100 code i think for the maf malfunction. and when i roll into the throttle it consistantly goes lean/rich and bogs down real bad. i have a wideband sensor, so that is how i know. i am wanting to put a 99 and newer 4runner ecu in it to remedy this problem. anyone had experience with this??
thanks

yes i did re-wire it. it was fine for a while and then i switched out the maf from mine to an rx300, because my hot wires were fried, and my friend who is a parts guy at toyota said they were the same part number. but after i posted this i went out and checked, then checked the part numbers on all data, they are all different from lexus to toyota. but my buddy with the same 3.4 s/c in his 94 pu has one out of a lexus and his works fine! i think i might thry just having the right part number before i try an ecm.
i didn't have any problems till the first maf went bad. this one could be bad too, but it isnt throwing a lean code, just the p0100. did you run into anything?? i thought this was such an awesome mod too. this has just been pissing me off and stumping me a little...
