4Runner- 1 Accord- 0
Yup, got in a wreck today. It was not my fault. I was headed down 141 when the person in front of me slammed on their brakes, I slammed mine and was going to stop before without problem but I guess the guy behind me didnt see I stopped so she slammed into the back of my 4Runner. Her car was most likely totalled, my hitch went straight into her engine compartment and there was oil/ radiator fluid all over my rear bumper. Anyways, when she hit me, it pushed me into the car in front of me. My car isnt damaged at all in the front besides maybe a little dent. Hopefully I can get the cash for a new TJM or something because of it.
The bad. I got a damn ticket for following too closely.
That may not have made any sense at all but whatever.
I also thought I would note how strong the stock front bumper actually is. I hit the van pretty hard and i didnt even dent my bumper.

Same thing happened to me in my old car. The guy that I was pushed into got out of his car, saw there was no damage and took off. Since my car was pretty much jacked, the lady that hit me stayed with me and waited for the police. The policeman said that I was lucky the guy I hit took off as I was responsible for any damage to his car and would have received a ticket.

I got rearended and push into the car infront of me and he was pushed into the car ahead of him. The only one who got a ticket was the guy who hit me.
That is a lame ticket since you were stopped.

Yeah, I am going to try and fight it. I didnt have PLENTY of time to stop, but I would NOT have hit the van in front of me. The funny thing is, I was expecting my front bumper to be destroyed because I hit the van pretty hard. That thing really took the impact pretty damn well, not really even a single dent.
I am just going to take a check for a new rear bumper and just flatten mine out and rhinoline it or something along those lines.

I witnessed a tractor trailer smash a vehicle that was fully stopped into the van in front of him once. I wonder if the guy that got hit by the truck got a ticket and how legally would that be any different than this case if you were fully stopped.

That is too bad about the ticket. Years ago I was the middle man in a 3 car accident. The car I was pushed into was an old Volkswagen Beetle. Smashed the "hood" into the engine of it and killed it. However, the lady that hit me was the only one ticketed and the only one at fault. I've always been under the impression that the rear car in a rear end chain of events is singly at fault. Doesn't seem right that you were ticketed. As was stated, I'd fight if I were you.
And, as was stated, please don't stoop so low as to even think about suing anyone. This sue-happy culture that we live in is pathetic.

Fight the ticket! Because of the ticket you may be to blame for the damage to the car in front of you that you got pushed into. Remember "You got pushed into that other car" you didn't hit the other car.
