3vze timing question
I was checking the timing on my engine, and noticed that under the 10, there are two lines.. is one 10 and one 8? (since I hear its supposed to say 10 when jumpered and 8 when not?)
Thanks, I have searched and haven't found much about this.
Also, I just use 87 octane fuel, so I'd probably get the best performance out of 10deg, right?

With the diagnostic connector jumpered, your timing should read 10 degrees. Also if you adjust your timing you have to have the connector jumpered. If I remember correctly there is an 8, 10, 12 (not #'ed), and a 15 degree marks. The stock timing should be set at 10 degrees. However if you bump it up to 12 degrees you will notice a slight increase power. That's what I have done. I run premium fuel all the time but still get a ping every once in a while. But that may be cause by a combination of a couple different things, not just the timing increase. You don't have to run premium with the timing at 12. I would just advance it and see if you get any pinging. It will probably vary between vehicles.
I recommend moving it to 12 degrees and see how the power/ping situation is and then make you decision.
Good Luck
