Long time, no see, yotatech. Sorry

So, like the subject line says. Exhaust is terrible, mildly "gassy," and worse, it smells sort of like varnish.

I just changed oil, plugs, wires. Oil was black after ~3500 miles, and a quart low. Plugs all looked really good. Examined the after market intake that came with the truck (AEM) and found loose connection between intake pipe and fpr. Changing pcv now.

But the exhaust is terrible. It's not visible: there's no smoke, no sign of hg issue, and no performance problems. But damn, the exhaust smells so strongly that I feel bad warming up next to the neighbor's house. The smell is "rich." For any oldsters out there, it smells like my dad's old international 4x4 trucks: just like unmitigated, earth-hating stench . Mpg are a bit lower, but not terribly. From 19-20 in town to maybe 16-18.

Possibly related: throttle is wonky. I adjusted the floppy cable, but still bog in first without liberal use of the skinny.

Haven't checked O2 and putting off for steering fixes in advance of weekend snow wheeling. No codes present.

Again, the exhaust smell is intense. Obviously something is awry, but what?

So, what say you, yotatech?

If MPG are good and it runs good, I say it's a non issue. Or maybe somebody stole your cat off and clamped on a glasspack instead :-)

I would check you catalytic converter and O2 sensor. Fuel Filter might not be a bad idea to change if its been awhile. A bad fuel injector that sprays too much fuel can also case this to run rich.

Thanks for the ideas. I'm onto more pressing pickles at the moment, but I'll port this thread after I've tested everything.
