Yes, you can manuever it around to access the cover of the solenoid to get to the internal contacts:

Wouldnt it just be easier to remove the whole starter and rebuild since you are going through the trouble anyways. They are really easy to rebuild and freshen up.

i just pulled out the starter itself, considering all the fiddling around with the little parts of the solenoid repair kit. after almost an hour of rotating it all around and trying to get it out..i just ended up taking out a PS line. dont forget to bleed it after though...
