3rd gen rear sag?
When I searched I came across people saying to replace the shocks. Well I did the "bounce test" on mine and it only bounces twice so I know my shocks cannot be the problem. On Monday I might take my 4Runner into the shop if I get time in between and do a ride height test. Any ideas? I am thinking coils may be starting to weaken. If so then it might be a good excuse to get some OMEs and Tundra coils up front.

Shocks will do nothing to your ride height, maybe if you go to a pressurized shock like bilstein you may gain 1/8". Do you have conical bump stops? If not they will lift the back up 1/4"-3/8" or so.

Yes I do have the conical bump stops. Initially I didn't think shocks did much for ride height but from other threads that's what they said. I'm just trying to diagnose the sagging, not band aid it. I don't have anything heavy in the cargo so that's out of the equation. BTW that's a nice 4Runner you have.

From posts I've read, this is a common thing for almost all generations of 4runners. I've also talked to a few people that say that the rear springs are just horrible and replacing them makes all the difference (in sag and bumpiness). I, myself, do not have a sag but that's probably because I don't put much in the rear of my truck. Once I've done the important mods, I'll consider swapping out the rear springs for some Downeys or OMEs.

Our Runner was level, until we put the Grille guard onto it. Then, the Rear was a wee bit higher. Then, the rear started sagging, and it was level. Now that we tow with it, the Rear is constantly 1/8-1/4" lower. Boat is hooked up, we are riding on the bumpstops. With the car hauler hooked up, we are on the bumpstops.

Ok thanks guys... I'm really not overly worried about it, so it's not a high priority right now. I will pull it into the shop probably during my lunch break and do the ride height check to be sure that's what it is. I just have to buy a full tank of gas and take my tool box in the back out.
