3rd Gen. power seat options
I bought my 96 4runner last year and it came without a passenger seat motor for the power seat. It's been over a year and i have yet to do anything about it. Just wondering if it was simple enough to remove the electronics and controls that are on it now and install parts for a manual seat from the yota dealer. OR.... Should I look for a power seat motor from a junk yard. It really doesn't matter to me if it's manual or power operation.
If anyone has a power seat motor from a 96 4runner (or equivalent) that you're willing to get rid of, I'd be happy to take it!

i believe i've seen your truck around campus. Are you still at App.?? I'm a junior.. i'll be up here both sessions this summer. Have you been to Brown mtn. ORV area?? I'm tryin to head down there sometime soon. If you've been, let me know if it's worth it or if you want to go wheelin' sometime. I usually go to the backside of Beech mtn.

Actually, I work over in Banner Elk but am in Boone quite often. I graduated ASU in 1991 so I'm over the hill now. I haven't been to Brown Mtn. but a friend of mine has a 99 limited and we've been talking about a day trip down there sometime soon. I'll let you know how it goes (you'd be welcome to join us).
I'm new to off road stuff so I won't be doing any wheeling that could hurt the vehicle (I've got to drive this 4Runner for a long time)
Cheers,
Graham

Welcome to the boards first. My name is Todd I sell a lot of parts here on the boards to the other members. The seat frames for that particular vehilce are different so you wouldn't be able to make it a manual from the existing seat. You could either replace the motor or the bottom of the seat, both are very expensive. There are a couple of different motors that come on the electric seats, the one I am quoting is the one to move it back and forth.
Below are both pieces and prices. Let me know if you have any further questions and once again WELCOME!
85820-35020 motor $297.47
71610-35060 spring, assembly $96.15
