3rd Gen Liftgate Problem
I have a 99 limited 4x4. My problem is that my rear liftgate has stopped working. I've tried unlocking it with the in car unlock switches, the key fob, and with the key, even when unlocked it still will not open, however the rear window will still roll up and down. It seems that the handle mechanism is not catching or that it is simply not unlocking. I wanted to get suggestions before i go to the stealership to see how much it will cost. Any suggestions or similar problems?

it sounds like the linkage has popped off the handle mechanism on the inside of the door. you'll need to take it apart to get to it. if you take it to the dealer, expect at LEAST $100 charge to fix it. it would take about 30 minutes for you to take everything apart and possibly fix it yourself and then reassemble it...

This is pretty common:
