3rd Gen and 285/75 on stock rims
I have a 2001 4 runner Sport and want to upgrade my tires from 265/70-16 to 285/75 - 16 on the stock 16x7 rims.
I'm planning on going to with a 2" suspension lift for but I have read that some people experience rubbing with the stock upper A-Arms.
I am wondering if I will need to look into an aftermarket A-Arms before purchasing the 285s.
I've read articles going either way and would like to hear from anyone that have gone through this.

MOST people do rub the a-arms with 285s on the stock rims.
try this: get the 285s. if you do rub, you can do 3 things:
1) grind down your a-arms
2) get aftermarket a-arms
3) get wheels with less backspacing

ATS did indeed go out of business. Go to that site Lance gave above for aftermarket A-arms. As far as damaging the tires, I never let mine go that far but I can say it never got to the point where it seriously damaged the tires, however, it was rubbing bad enough to concern me. I wouldn't want to ride around a long time with them rubbing like mine were. My vote is definetly do the aftermarket swap. You won't be dissapointed plus the new arms will decrease the angles on your ball joints and CV's.
