You do have some miles on your truck and it is 13 years old so some parts are ecpected to have some issues and a common one with CC is the vacuum hoses connected to the control box sometimes get brittle and split which can cause on and off issues so check all your lines to the CC box.
'99 SR5
CC is used at least once a week
148k
No problems.

On my old 97 Limited 4Runner, the cruise had a problem when changing gears. Going up a hill would cause a downshift from 4th to 3rd. Then when the hill was over it would just stay in 3rd gear. It wouldn't shift back to 4th gear until I hit the cancel button.

99 SR5, 150k miles. always use cruise control on the freeway, at least trying to.
it only works when it wants to, totally crap shoot. I'd say 50% of the time.

Miles - 230k, 72K on replacement engine
Cruise works great but the only thing I don't care for is sometimes when it down shifts for hills or has to speed up it doesn't ease off the gas when it reaches the set speed. It acts like it just completely stops using the gas pedal and you feel pulled forward until it shifts into 4th and starts cruising again. It doesn't do this all of the time though but I'd say 90%.

I didn't do the swap, I had an engine exchange place do everything. The engine came from LKQ with at the time documented 61K. I had a lot of extra stuff done while it was out to help bullet proof it IE: timing belt, water pump, flywheel (original was cracked) hoses, belts PS pump and other stuff I can't remember but I ended putting @ $3500 in it or so. I only paid $500 for it bone stock so it was well worth it to me. I have a thread on it in the 3rd Gen pictures titled something like 96 T4 Beginning of a build where you can see pretty much all that's been done so far.
