31x10.50. vs 235/75
Man....I swapped out wheels and tires between the Runner and Pickup.
The Runner now has the 235/75 15's and the truck has the 31x10.50 15x8.
Since the Runner only has the 22RE....the smaller and lighter stock wheel combo really makes it scoot now! The new engine definately could turn the larger tires....but on some steep grades heading into TN, I was having to shift back down to 3rd....! The V6 has plenty of grunt to pull the weight. I may try to find some stock alloys and leave the 31's off! I like the "Attitude" it gives the truck...but I am all about performance. I have to think that my gas mileage will only go up, without the rolling resitance and weight as well!
I may be opening a bag of worms with the Bigger is Better crowd...But thats aight......! To each is their own right!
By the way....I may be interested in a trade for some alloys!

Funny, I am doing the opposite. I'm replacing my 235/75R15 Dunlop A/Ts with 30X9.50R15 Michelin LTX M/Ss. I have steel wheels too, but I have bought some alloys for the Michelins. (I dont think the steel wheels can hold the Michelins anyway?) I have 3 alloy wheels so far.-Just waiting on that eBay guy to send me my other one I bought.
Since the alloys are lighter and the tires are milder, maybe there will not be a noticeable power loss. I just hope it cures the darn vibration problem I've had ever since I bought the truck.

I had the 225/75s originally on my truck and then I swapped to 31x10.5s and now am using 33x10.5s. Needless to say, regearing is the next thing on my list.

Hi, yeah smaller tires do make a big difference! I had a set of 235/70/15's on my truck for summer/street tires when I did a lot of highway driving, not only did it give it a little more power but it handled A LOT better to, but yes bigger can be better depending!
