315's or 305's what to do?

I almost bought a set of 315/75/16 goodyear mtrs today but chicked out for the 305/70/16 to find out that the guy had mis quoted the on the price. He thought I had 15 inche wheels. My question is can I run 315's with 4.10 gears and still be ok. Also how much wores are 315s on your truck (wear and tear)compared to 305's.

What to buy?

315/75/16 goodyear
305/70/16 goodyear

315/75/16 bfg
305/70/16 bfg

considering pro com xterain's

I have gave up on the trux mt's after hearing problems with balencing.

For one, I've heard that the live of the GOODYEAR M/TR's is very short. If my memory serves me correct, you can probably manage to squeeze 30K if you're nice to them and have proper maintenance intervals, such as alignment, rotation, etc.

As for the BFGs, I'm assuming you're leaning towads the M/Ts since the other two choices are mud terrains. The BFG M/T's are not that much better either. 40K is about right for the BFG M/T but they are obviously excellent in the mud. Probably even better than the GOODYEAR M/TRs.

I've hear positive comments about the PRO COMP, but that's all I can tell you.

As far as gearing with the 305, well I honestly don't know how 4:10's would work. I'd actually be interested if they would. My guess is that it ought to be OK but I wouldn't be able to answer why.

depends on how heavy your foot is as to whether you will want to regear. Your gas mileage will drop to about 13 mpg on 35s without regearing. It will be a big difference but still pretty well powered all things considered. Me personally, I was ok with the stock gears cause I dont need anymore tickets!

Very, very, very wise decision! Mine need to be rebalanced already. With my MT\R's that wasn't the case. MT\R's do suck in the mud, but on the rocks, well they rock Don't know much about the Pro Comp's though.

People have been easily getting 40k out of MT/R's that are wheeled hard on runners. I have 25k and it looks like around half tread.

Do you wheel it?

Have you got space for the bigger rubber?

Read Steve's page and think about if you can do that to run 35's.
