Is $30 too much for Rear Diff Fluid change?
Im going on a 6 hour trip, towing a trailer tomorrow.
My Runner has about 83,000 miles, and I dont know if it's ever been changed.
A local shop said they'd charge $30 to change it.
Is that too much?

Not bad I guess....I just changed my 2nd Gen rear diff fluids out with synthetic and my cost was 27 bucks for 3qts plus my time.
I'd say do it yourself - its too easy. I dunno about your gen but I needed a 24mm socket to get the drain/fill plugs open. Took 5 mins to drain and 5-10 mins to fill, just be sure you are on level ground when you do it.

I did it myself after Jiffy Screw said $90. Yeah, that would be $90 for the front diff, $90 for the rear diff, and another $90 for the transfer case. $30 is a deal if you don't feel like doing it yourself.

Most oil change places do them all for under $100.
