3.4L LARGEST injector size possible?

As some of you know, I have been working on a 5VZ-FET project

Before you read further know this; this is a backyard low budget project just to see how much boost a 5VZ can handle with stock internals & ecu. I will be putting togeather a fully built motor while im playing with this one so please dont insult my project, this is just for fun and to benifit the yotatech community.

Here is the plan:
I will be running a hacked MAF meeter to compensate for the lager injectors. Basically the diameter of the tube the sensor is mounted in will be enlarged the appropriate ammount so that the ECU will see a lower amount of air flow. By doing this and running an AFC for fine tuning I should be able to use much larger injectors than stock, without having to go hunt for different MAF meeters. I have done this before on a few cars and have been able to (in some cases) double the size of the injectors with no additional tuning.

Bassed on my calculations @ 80% duty cycle, I will need 470cc injectors to be safe with the two 13G TDO4's I will be running. My question is this; what is the LARGEST size injectors anyone on here has run on the stock ECU before idle issues begin? Has anyone run DSM injectors in this engine? I was able to run 550s using this method without problems on my last turbo project.

Here are some pics of my turbos and motor awaiting the manifolds.

I know there ugly but, horsepower isnt always pretty

niiiiiiiiice and good luck!

13G TDO4's? Im not familiar with that although it is T04 family, I think. What compressor wheel and turbine trime does it have? Looks like a fairly low A/R...

TTT for your injector questions...

i run 370cc with no idle issues.... the idle issues are from inadequate air flow, if u have a bigger maf-- no idle issues. I run the supra MAF.

Holy smokes! You must be making some serious power to be in the 450-550 range for injectors on a 3.4 L motor. That will be very impressive if you can pull it off on a decent budget. You might PM gadget since he is usually the most knowledgeable about the high HP motors and how they are set up.

Here is an 800HP twin turbo these guys made:

Might give them a call and see if they give you any help too.

Yes, the engine will need a LOT of fuel. The Mitsubishi 13G turbos are a common turbo found on 1G eclipses and are regularaly used on VR4 twin turbos for fast spool but still lots of power potential. Im planing on full boost by 2500rpm!

This motor is going to be a test bed for my built motor. I want as many parts as possible to swap to the new motor to save money. I will be pulling the manifold, injectors, exaust manifolds and a few more parts once the new motor is finished.

On my nissan KA-24DET project the stock injectors flowed ~280cc and I was able to double the injector size to 550cc by simply putting the hot wire into a lager diameter tube. What I am trying to figure out is what injector size will require a pulse width that is too short for the stock ECU to opperate correctly at idle.

I've heard of people running 2jz-gte mafs so why not 2jz injectors? I think they're 550cc, but then again this is not my most sober moment.

I think all the supra injectors are side feed so they wouldent work. Im not really concerned with what injectors fit, Im more interested in what size injectors have been run. That will tell me how far the ECU can be pushed to shorten the pulse.

Anybody know what the minimum reccomended pulse width is on denso type injectors?

supra injectors are top feed....
the only ones that I've seen that are side feed are those 240sx ones.

cant you use something like the apexi safc to "hack" the maf instead of doing the larger diameter tube.

we use 450-550cc injectors all the time in our small 4cyl honda turbo cars. boosting around 10psi on stock internals.

also you might want to check over at customtacos.com forums. they have some s-runners and tacomas over there with turbos.
